The news pop-punkers around the world were waiting for; Green Day, Weezer and Fall Out Boy have announced a new joint tour. They’ve even done it properly and each released a brand new song to go along with it.

With the teasings of a behemoth tour shared earlier last week the news wasn’t the biggest shock of all time, but the gravity of the tour is still something to be admired.

“It’s kind of a Green Day idea,” frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told Zane Lowe on Beats 1. “And we talked about how we weren’t really wanting to do stadiums and do something that was like a throwback to Monsters of Rock Tour. There was, of course, Fall Out Boy and Weezer and now we’re stoked.”

Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz added to the proceedings: “To me, I remember, in the 90s, there was this one summer, and Guns and Roses, Metallica went on the stadium tour and my parents didn’t let me go to it. You want to recreate that memory. Hopefully, if somebody who gets to go to the tour, I think this tour represents counter-programming, I think that the world is moving in one direction in an obvious way, or whatever. I think that this tour represents counter programming to that and it’s awesome to take part in that and be a small part of it.”

The tour will see the bands hit Dublin, London, Glasgow and Huddersfield, and it comes with the extra caveat of three brand new songs. Green Day have shared the title track of their upcoming new album ‘Father of All The Motherfuckers’. Weezer have also shared a future album track in the metal-akin ‘The End of the Game’. Fall Out Boy have shared ‘Dear Future Self (Hands Up)’ featuring Wyclef Jean which will feature on 2020’s Greatest Hits album.
